Hi, I’m Tina Graves
And welcome to real life with the Tina twist
I’m a healthcare executive, a wife to my husband and best friend Dan, and Mom to three amazing kids.
I am passionate about life, about learning, inclusion and diversity particularly when it comes to women in the workplace, and I’m passionate about kindness.
Outside of my day job, I’m a business mentor and masterclass speaker for Race For Good, an organization that helps uplift people and communities in some of the most in need parts of the world by leveraging the brain power of students and business people around the world.
This podcast is about my story, as a working mother who has gone against the grain on a number of occasions, been told “you can’t” and “you’re crazy” more times than I can count, and lived to tell the fun exciting, sometimes difficult and stressful stories of doing it anyway, regardless of what others said or what others thought.
So why this podcast?
If I can help one person
This was my mantra while nervously preparing to share my story to a group of people a few months ago.
The trick was the topic was super vague: “come and talk about being a working mother”
And the audience was unknown; it was all virtual so it could have been 10 people or 100,000 people.
In preparing for this session, I really wanted to be real.
I didn’t want to just give generic fluff, similar to the highlight reel we see on so much social media these days.
And so my mantra was, and is for this podcast as well: if I can help one person, one person, it will have been worth it.
So yes, I worried then and I worry now about being judged, what other people would say, even if the content I have to share in my stories is relevant, and aren’t there other people with more interesting things to say?
But I did, and I’m doing it anyway.
And what I knew from, what I learned from that talk was that it tied me to a community of other people like me, as well as other women and men who are inspired to learn more and wanted to talk more about the topics that I really only barely touched upon in that one talk.
My hope with this podcast is that I inspire at least one person to write their own story, regardless of others tell them is crazy, or that they can’t.
I hope to connect with other women and men who are going against the grain of what their society is telling them is the right way to live their lives.
And I hope to create a space where you can be inspired to ask yourself “what if” and dream a little.
So welcome, once again, I’m so glad you’re here.
